This Week In Music: 23/10/13

It's been a pretty good week, guys. Let's talk about it while I sip on some Dr. Pepper

  • Demi Lovato - Let It Go
This song is for the soundtrack to Disney's Frozen (a movie which I know very little about) and I really like it. It relates to the movie but I can also hear it out of context and think, yeah, that's a Demi song. It sounds like her other soundtrack-y songs, very uplifting.
  • One Direction - 15 second clip of Story Of My Life
Yeah, fuck you. I'm including this. It's getting it's first radio play on Friday and I can guarantee it'll be on next week's list too. Shut up.
  • Taylor Swift - Sweeter Than Fiction
From the One Chance soundtrack, I believe it was used for the end credits. To me it sounds like the kind of cheery, pop song that belongs on movie credits. I also like the message to the song, I can relate to feeling proud of someone when they follow their dreams (heck, I feel that way about Taylor herself) and I found myself dancing around my kitchen to this song - a true sign that it's a good'un.
  • Lucius - Don't Just Sit There
iTunes single of the week! Acoustic, strong hearty female vocals, the instrumentals sound like a Taylor Swift song, I like it. I might add it to an autumn playlist among some other melancholy tracks.
  • Hunter Hayes & friends - Everybody's Got Somebody But Me (medley)
This was posted on YouTube featuring a bunch of YouTube musicians and it is brilliant! I already loved this song, and then the Encore version with Jason Mraz, and it just keeps getting cooler.
News (this week has been exciting):

  • Nick Santino released his new EP! I'm still a tad bitter about A Rocket To The Moon calling it quits, but his solo music is really cool. It has more of a Western vibe and I'm diggin' it.
  • Justin Bieber released yet another single for "music monday"
  • Katy Perry's PRISM is out (I have not listened to it, but everyone else is hype)
  • Ed Sheeran recording his next album live with just his guitar and a loop pedal (tweet proof) and I could not be more eager to hear the final product.
  • Preorder Midnight Memories on iTunes and you get a song a week until the album comes out.
