This Week In Music: 17/04/14

Hello and welcome to another week

  • The Vamps - Meet The Vamps
This is my favourite of the week, and I did a whole post about it, so I won't bugger on.
Must hear: Somebody To You, Girls On TV, Cecilia (Breaking My Heart)
  • Ingrid Michaelson - Lights Out
This album has so many cool collaborations  - there's bound to be someone you know. The solo songs are ace as well! Plus, Taylor Swift gave her a shoutout on Twitter earlier.
Must hear: Time Machine, Girls Chase Boys, Over You (feat. A Great Big World)
  • Black Keys - Turn Blue
The title track off their upcoming release, and everybody is flipping out.
  • The Used - Imaginary Enemy
I haven't listened to this in it's entirety, but I've heard mixed opinions on it. I did used to like a bit of The Used back in their prime (All That I've Got, The Bird And The Worm..)
  • Twenty One Pilots - Mad World (Cover)
They posted this on their YouTube channel as part of an MTV thing, so you could check it out. Very calming.
  • The Downtown Fiction - Kiss My Friends
Not digging this one as much as I wanted to, but I'm still excited for their new album Losers & Kings to come out June 17th.
  • NEEDTOBREATHE - Rivers In Wasteland
I've actually known (vaguely) about this band since I saw them open for Taylor Swift in 2011, but they fell to the wayside. Their new album is pretty cool, though. Not in love with it, but worth a listen. Wasteland is probably the track I like the most.
  • Charli XCX - Boom Clap
This is a song from the soundtrack of the upcoming book-to-movie The Fault In Our Stars, which will also feature a song by Ed Sheeran!
  • Ed Sheeran - Don't (Performed On SNL)
Speaking of Ed, he did a stellar performance on SNL last weekend, and I actually remembered to watch it live! We've been given two songs off his upcoming release, X, now and I am dying to hear the rest.
  • Demi Lovato - Give Me Love (Cover)
Look here, another mention of Ed. Demi did this amazing cover during a concert a couple of days ago, and it has to be the only one that actually lives up to the real thing. She put so much emotion into it that I was almost brought to tears. Please, listen to it.
  • Gord Downie & The Sadies - Budget Shoes
iTunes single of the week, my friends. It reminds me of Buck 65's Blood Of A Young Wolf, and that's all I have to say.
