Christina Perri - Head Or Heart | Album Review

I'm back again, so soon, and with another album review! Hello!

Standard track-by-track and then final thoughts.

  1. Trust
A very pretty way to begin the album, views trust in all it's forms. Simple song.
  2. Burning Gold
Reminds me a bit of a Sara Bareilles song I can't place. The chorus is a pleasant surprise and although the vocals kinda irk me for a second, I enjoy it somehow.
  3. Be My Forever (feat. Ed Sheeran)
How could I not love this one? It's so sickeningly adorable and I will not get over it. Plus Ed Sheeran is involved. Bye. Added note: I feel like this is the kind of song that could be used in a cutesy cereal commercial, ya know what I mean?
  4. Human
    So real. Ah. Beautiful.
  5. One Night
A little more intense, the beat gets to you. Eerie.
  6. I Don't Wanna Break
Fast buildup of the drums and then a softer part and then DRUMS. The lyrics are very interesting, too.
  7. Sea Of Lovers
Another piano ballad, reminds me of another song, again that I can't place. A always love a good song filled with sea/sailing metaphors.
  8. The Words
    Another piano ballad.
  9. Lonely Child
Love is just a spark that starts in your heart and ends in your head - a lyric from this song that describes the song perfectly. Amazing.
  10. Run
A bit of a swinging melody and a crooning vocal. Lyrics a bit like Dear John, but before the realization.
  11. Butterfly
I really like this one and you should just listen to it.
  12. Shot Me In The Heart
I like the echoes and instrumentals and electronic production a lot. And the chorus is awesome.
  13. I Believe
Great choice of song to finish off the album. It discusses endings and beginning again.
All in all, I'd never really cared for Christina before this and listened to the album on a whim but I'm glad I did. She sounds a lot like a lot of people I listen to, so of course I like her. The album cover is a pretty cool mirror thing and the overall messages in the album are relatable to me and my life. And of course - Ed Sheeran is featured on the album! That is something I like!
I already pointed my favourite tracks in this week's TWIM, so you can check that out if you want, and with that I'll let you go listen to this yourself!
