Week In Review(s) | Demi Lovato & Hedley

You guessed it, I had the pleasure of attending the Toronto dates of both the Neon Lights and the Wild Live tour. Here are some thoughts.
First up was Demi, and I won't joke around here - I was ecstatic. I had been looking forward to this forever and last time I saw her was summer of 2012. The openers were pretty good, although strange it was weirdly entertaining to watch the magician between every act. He was your typical, cheesy magician and I understood none of the tricks. He must have been good, then. Fifth Harmony was full of girl power and booty poppin' and a lot of fun. I would have preferred Little Mix as the second opener, but Cher Lloyd was a welcome substitute and she got me off my feet singing along to Swagger Jagger (and finding out I knew the words to Swagger Jagger). Demi was amazing. She revamped a bunch of old songs to make them sound a bit more rock 'n' roll, and that was well received by me. The light show was stellar, vocals were on point, outfit on point, and most of my favourites were sung. No surprise I got choked up a few times; Nightingale, Warrior, and Skyscraper just get to me. The video visuals were really interesting to watch, too - some of her music videos mixed with specially recorded footage for the tour that went with each song. Loved it. 10/10 would recommend.

Hedley was probably the most Canadian looking show I've been to: so many puffy vests and camo jackets and plaid flannels... Amazing. USS (a band I'd never heard before) was entertaining and I think I'll check them out sometime. Classified was just as good as I remember from the last time I saw him, with Hedley in early 2012. Hedley was hilarious and entertaining as ever, from the beginning with the intro video of them spoofing the A Team to Jacob's little ballad about chocolate pudding, to the t-shirt gun, cheerleaders on stage, Jacob dancing all over a man dressed as an old woman, you know the drill. Normal stuff. Vocals were flawless, obviously. I really liked what they did with Mexico, All the Way, and the alternate ending to the old favourite, Sweater Song. Hedley stands as one of those forever bands for me, and I'm cool with that.

I suggest if you can find any live videos from either tour, watch 'em because everything looked and sounded so freaking good. I guess now it's just a countdown until the next concert (April 21st, Twenty One Pilots, if you were curious).
