Grammys Recap

Every year I am surprised to see that the event is over 3 hours long.

All in all, I enjoyed the awards show. A lot of my favourites performed and deserving artists got their recognition. If you wanted to see my first reactions, I livetweeted the whole thing. Some highlights:

  • Hunter Hayes debuts new song
I really had no idea what the show would entail, having not seen any previews or read the nominees lists so I was freaking out when Hunter took the stage. I loved the new song and the way they presented it.
  • Taylor Swift
She came up looking stunning as per usual and blew everyone away performing All Too Well. I love that song so much and I personally think her more toned-down performances are some of her best. She didn't win album of the year but I'm not butthurt, the album did come out in 2012 anyway.
  • Imagine Dragons/Kendrick Lamar
This was insane! It was a very interesting choice of collaboration but it worked so well! For sure something that will be talked about for a while. The theatrics and everything was amazing.
  • Kacey Musgraves
She kind of got the short end of the stick having to follow up the Imagine Dragons event but she still did well. I didn't realize she was that big but then again I am not fully involved in the country scene. I love the song she chose, especially with what was to come in the night. She also won for country and was all adorable about it.
I also have to give some props to Pink because WHAT. Very impressive that she was flying through the air, singing, dancing and just. Woah. Of course the Macklemore/Ryan Lewis/Queen Latifa/Madonna performance was huge too. It seems Macklemore's a love/hate kind of artist and I happen to love him. I was glad he won so many awards because they deserve it. Also, Lorde was killin it all night. I'd never heard her speak before but she's well cute (I can say that, she's younger than me) and her album is spectacular.
