This Week In Music: 26/12/13

Happy Boxing Day, I bought myself some music on iTunes and I'm going to chat about it.

  • American Authors - American Authors EP
I've known about this band for a while and loved their song Believer so when I came into some iTunes credit, I bought two of the songs off the EP. The entire thing is good, though. They sound a lot like Imagine Dragons to me, so if you like them, then go for it.
  • San Cisco - San Cisco
Another band I've known about for ages. They sound a lot like Vampire Weekend with the exception that they have alternating female/male vocals. Their sound is really chill and they're from Australia, I am fascinated by Australia. I like spending iTunes money on things I couldn't find at a place like HMV. Foreign music or just bands that aren't well known. I know it supports them and maybe their music will become readily available in the future!
  • Bo Burnham - what.
Bo is a comedy genius, if you ask me. His show what is available to watch in full on YouTube and Netflix and I really urge you to do it. He involves a lot of music so an album of the songs/spoken pieces is on iTunes and it cracks me up every time. And there's so much truth. If he ever did a show in my area I wouldn't hesitate to get tickets.
  • Justin Bieber - Journals
Much like Miley's latest release, I didn't think I'd like this but I just had to listen to it. I've only heard 2 or 3 tracks so far and it's not entirely my taste but I'll play the whole thing through for sure. Also, a bonus track called Flatline is on iTunes for free right now. You can't go wrong with free.
  • Passenger - Holocene (Bon Iver cover)
He just posted this to YouTube last night but it suits him so well and I love the original to start with. So wintery.
  • Lewis Watson - Some Songs With Some Friends EP
This came out a few weeks ago and I waited to buy it before listening because I own a few of his EPs and I wanted to continue with that. I really like Even If and Droplets (which features Gabrielle Aplin, whom I love). His voice has been described as a mix between Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles, so obviously I am head over heels. Really chilled out acoustic music. I also bought his EP The Wild because I could and like I said before - I like supporting smaller artists via iTunes.

I also bought Lauren Aquilina's Sinners EP, McFly's Love Is On The Radio with Busted, and Fifth Harmony's acoustic version of Leave My Heart Out Of This. And I got Hedley's Wild Life for Christmas. Yip.
Happy days to all.
