- Taylor Swift
I mean it's obvious, I've mentioned her (a few times) before. She is one of those people you either love or hate and I happen to love her. Her lyricism is so truthful and she's not afraid to put herself out there and you gotta respect her for that. She's also AMAZING live, which I can truly say because I've seen her twice now. She puts on such a show and really brings the songs to life, you can see what she was feeling and how she remembers things, nevermind the fact that GIRL CAN SING. Leave her personal life out of it and you'll be able to just enjoy her for what she's good at: making incredible songs. - Jonas Brothers
These boys were my first love. Again, you have to look past what the media perceives them as and focus on the music. They incorporate such good instrumentals and ideas into their work and they've been doing it since day 1. If you were to only check out one of their albums, I suggest Lines, Vines, And Trying Times because it has such a unique feel and sound, they outdid themselves. I'll add that they too put on a great performance, I've also seen them twice and would see them again in an instant. (I was in NYC when they came to Toronto this summer and I'm still upset about missing it) - Justin Bieber
While I can't say I like where he's going personality wise, I've always been a fan of him. I own every single one of his albums (there's a lot), and he's got a cool sound and nice voice. It's not entirely the typical pop music, he brings his own bit of everything and I enjoy it. I probably like Believe the best of his albums because you can hear more of a maturity in his voice and his songwriting. - Demi Lovato
You can not tell me this girl's vocals don't slay. She may come from Disney but she has one of the best voices in pop music. She has a complicated past and that allows her to write such raw emotional songs and combined with her range, she produces some great tracks. She has 4 albums and 'm sure you can find a little something you like from all those songs. I love seeing how she's grown up and become more open with her feelings because it results in something beautiful. - One Direction
Shut up, I'm a teenager. I got drawn in by their cute looks back in the X Factor days and I haven't been able to shake them since. The thing that makes them different is that they bring something interesting to the table. Their music varies a bit and they stray form the typical boyband sound. I won't talk about how much I love each member as an individual because that's irrelevant but they've evolved and I can't wait to see what they've come up with for this new album. To be frank, their music just makes me happy. It's fun and upbeat and young and you know what, sometimes that's exactly what you need. Don't try to tell me you can listen to Best Song Ever or Heart Attack without wanting to dance. I've seen them 3 times and I had the best time of my life screaming and jumping and dancing and I wouldn't trade that feeling for anything. Go see their movie.

Best of the Big
As much as I get called a hipster, I really do like a lot of mainstream music. I hear something on the radio and then I find out what it is and then I latch myself onto the artist, download all their songs and pray that they come to my city. The thing about bigger acts is that more fans means more tour dates and the possibility hat they won't skip over Toronto! (concert tickets are more expensive but the shows are bigger and better and worth it!!) Here are some of my favourite "mainstream" artists!
