RE: Ariana Grande Speaks Out

A few days ago Ariana Grande posted this response to the whole Bieber/Cyrus drama on her YouTube, and I wouldn't have even seen it had I not apparently been subscribed, but she makes an excellent point.

We all know of at least one of the recent tabloid stories about Miley Cyrus and/or Justin Bieber, and how strongly everyone is reacting. Basically, Ariana explains that we need to stop being so nosy, and look at the big picture.
I would like to take this time to say how much I agree with everything she said in that video. I've been saying for years that someone's actions should not influence how you think about the end product: their music. They are not here to be your perfect role model, they are not here to please you. They are here to make music, and because everyone likes their music so much, the media has a field day exposing their lives. Why? Why do we all care so much what they do in their spare time? The same drama goes on with Taylor Swift, everyone scrutinizes her relationships and I've even heard someone say she only dates boys so she can make money off breakup songs. Are you kidding me? Do you think she's so obsessed with money that she'd get herself into a relationship for that reason? Would you?
We all have to take a step back and look at the people that we actually know and see that what celebrities are doing is a lot like what everyone else their age is doing - except when it's bad, it's not only their close friends telling them off. It's the entire world.
Ariana stresses that we do not know these people, and if they're having fun - who are we to say it's wrong? Yeah, I don't really support drug use, and I wouldn't wear some of the clothes Miley has been sporting lately but nobody is forcing me to act the same way as her.
Justin Bieber said himself: judge me on my music, and I think we should all back off and remove ourselves from the grasp of magazine garbage.
