I'm really slacking, y'all. I spent another week listening to various 8tracks mixes. This post is going to be comprised mostly of the New & Noteworthy page on iTunes and my liked songs on 8tracks from the past week. To start, I'll mention the songs I actually downloaded:
- Mayday Parade - Girls (and also Ghosts)
This band is perfect for moody teenagers and dreary autumn evenings. The vocals are smooth and comforting. Every song by Mayday makes me wanna cry, so there's that. Their new album Monsters In The Closet comes out soon (October 8th) and they are on tour from the 11th! I suggest seeing them live at some point, I had the opportunity when the opened for All Time Low a few summers back and it becomes this huge choir sing-a-long and everyone is swaying and sobbing and it's fantastic.
Girls never listen.
- Tom Odell - Hold Me
This is a free single on iTunes currently and I suggest you always hop on that when you can. It's very exciting, instrumentally and kind of reminds me a bit of Somewhere Only We Know. His song Another Love is such a cool song, lyrically and this one is lovely too. He had a new album come out this week and I will definitely be checking that out ASAP and reporting back. Added note: he's also on tour in North America (or will be soon? I don't know the dates).
- Jack Johnson - From Here To Now To You (album)
I have not listened to this yet, but I plan to. Everybody loves a bit of Jack Johnson in their life, especially me as I'm in a mellow phase as of late. Probably comes with the season. Cute, upbeat, beachy music. His voice is very soothing to me and I love the acoustic stuff. From the iTunes previews it sounds like a good addition to my "calm" and/or "chill" playlist.
And a small list of things I'm looking forward to that come out really soon:
- Cassadee Pope - Frame By Frame
She was the frontwoman for pop/punk band Hey Monday and went solo on The Voice, won, and has her debut album coming out October 8th. 11 and Wasting All These Tears have the kind of country feel that I enjoy and I'm interested in what she has come up with.
- One Direction - Midnight Memories
Yeah I saw the documentary in theatres and went again to see the fan cut. I fucking love One Direction. I'm 18, I'm allowed to have crushes on cute boys that can sing and make me laugh. But that's not all, I actually like their music! It's pop, it makes me wanna dance and there's variety and say what you want, I will continue to adore this boyband.
- Punk Goes Christmas - Various Artists
Yeah, Fearless Records is releasing this later this year. you can check Alter The Press! for the tracklisting.
- Panic! At The Disco - Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die
I've never been a huge fan but the hype surrounding this band has gotten to me and I'm ready to hear some new music from them. The 2 songs off this album that have been released are catchy, clever and yeah.
