Have I ever written up one of these lists while my assignments go undone? Nahhhhhhh
- 5 Seconds Of Summer - She Looks So Perfect
I honest-to-goodness woke up at 3AM to hear this song as soon as the lyric video was posted. And yeah, it was worth it. I am infatuated, I can't get it out of my head, I want to scream the lyrics at the top of my lungs. The song as well as it's accompanying EP are available for preorder now (unless you live in North America). - Front Porch Step - Aware
This is a band I just found recently and I'm so glad I stumbled upon one of their songs. They make such pretty love songs, and such pretty songs about heartbreak. It's a lot of acoustic guitar and cute lyrics (and they sound like a hybrid between Modern Baseball and Green River Ordinance, if you ask me).
Must hear: If I Tremble, Lullaby, I Won't Say I'm OK - Modern Baseball - You're Gonna Miss It All
You can listen to this album on YouTube in full so go do that. I never know what to classify this genre as, it's like kind-of-singing-kind-of-spoken-word-kind-of-punk-and-a-bit-alternative but it's great, whatever genre you wanna put it under. A real focus on the lyrics here.
Must hear: Two Good Things, The Old Gospel Choir, Rock Bottom - Said The Whale - I Love You
Off their new album Hawaii, I'd include the whole album but I haven't listened to it all yet. I heard this on the radio the other day and it stuck with me. High energy indie rock, and they're from Canada which is a bonus. - Noah Gunderson - First Defeat
iTunes single of the week (also, I'm wondering if the free single is different in each country??) and I'm actually already a big fan of Noah so seeing it on the iTunes home page this week was cool. - Hot Chelle Rae - Don't Say Goodnight
Finally this band has something new. It starts off deceivingly slowish but transforms into your usual Hot Chelle Rae song with the whole "whatever" theme and a hint of sweetness. - Benjamin True - Smokestacks
A little bit country and a little bit rock and roll.... (I don't know, it's good).
- All of the songs on the mix CD I got on Monday
- Sunderland's cover of San Francisco which they played when I saw them this week (on YouTube here)
- Lily Allen's song for the Girls soundtrack, L8 CMMR
- This awesome mashup of Strong and The City
- Bastille and Tom Odell's most recent covers in the Radio 1 Live Lounge
- Paradise Fears' new song they are performing on tour
- Taylor Swift and her special guests on the UK leg of the Red tour (I'm so envious, Toronto got nobody) (I got misty-eyed watching her and Ed sing Lego House)
I really like everything I mentioned this week, like, for serious. Listen to it all.
