This Week In Music: 08/01/14

Back on the grind, back to actively finding music. (Also I think I'm going to write dates like this from now on)

  • Alex & Sierra - Say Something (Cover)
They performed this on the X Factor a while back (they've since won), and I had it stuck in my head so I had to get it on my iTunes.
  • Plug In Stereo - A Little Peace EP
Been a fan of his for a while, his music is so calming. This EP includes a collaboration with Megan & Liz so that's cool!
  • Neck Deep - Wishful Thinking
This CD isn't actually out yet but Hopeless Records posted all the songs on their YouTube channel and I've been listening to them. I really like it, especially because I've been listening to exclusively angst-y music for the past few days. Probably because I'm done vacation and I have to actually do schoolwork again and I'm not happy about it.
  • Fun. - Live In The USA
This is available for free on NoiseTrade at the moment so I suggest you check that out. I've never seen this band live so this is as close as I'm getting right now. Everyone knows that Fun. is a great band and they sound just as great live. (Plus, I'm a sucker for live music as I say over and over).
  • Hollywood Ending - Freak Like Me
This is their first release in a while, and it is what I expected it to be. They are a pop band around my age and they make music that's good to sing to with your friends or really loud dancing in your kitchen.
  • A Great Big World - This Is the New Year
This was the free single last week that I neglected to mention in my last list. So far, everything I've heard from this band I've liked so I'm excited to hear more from them.
  • John Newman - Losing Sleep
This is the iTunes single this week, off his latests release, "Tribute" and if it's anything like his last single, "Love Me Again" then I know I'll like it, and so will most of the rest of the world. (Haven't listened to it yet because I am the biggest slacker ever)
Some artists/albums I've been enjoying that aren't new discoveries:
  • Twenty One Pilots - Vessel
  • The Wonder Years
  • Blink 182 - Take Off Your Pants And Jacket
  • Bo Burnham
  • The Fray
  • The Maine - Black & White
In unrelated news, all of my friends have now gotten their mix CDs and they've all been happy with them and that makes my heart feel like it's going to burst. I'm so glad.
