I saw This Century on Wednesday.
This review is going to be short and sweet because I don't have much to say, so yeah!
I thought the opening bands suited the gig very well, there were 3 local bands which is nice and then the one opener that's on the entire tour. Personally, while I enjoyed the openers I prefer 1 or 2 as opposed to 4. The local bands were great, and I especially love Nick Santino, the "permanent" opener. He was in A Rocket To The Moon and his solo stuff is really cool, and he puts on a great performance. Also, he joined This Century during their set!
This Century was good. In comparison to the other amazing shows I've seen this year, they don't stand out but it was still fun. I'd never been to the Hard Luck bar before, we walked past it the first time around without realizing. The atmosphere was really chilled, there were tables and a bar and the place was really small and cosy. The bands just mingled around the crowd when they weren't playing, which I've never really experienced before. As for the music, it sounded true to recordings and they were interacting with the crowd tons. I've seen This Century once before, opening for The Maine so I knew they were good live. They're not my favourite band, which probably explains why I wasn't as stoked as some other people in the crowd. This review is coming out sounding negative, I really did enjoy it though! I'd love to see other bands play this bar, and seeing Brighter Brightest (local) is always exciting.
All in all, if you really like This Century, you should check out one of their shows because you'll be dancing and singing along the whole way through.
